Frequently Asked Questions

Functional Health / Functional Medicine FAQs

  • Functional Medicine is a science-backed, root-cause approach to health that looks at the body as an interconnected system rather than focusing only on symptoms. We explore areas like hormones, gut health, inflammation, metabolism, stress, nutrition, lifestyle, and environmental influences to better understand what your body may be trying to communicate.

  • We commonly support women struggling with fatigue, hormone imbalances, brain fog, weight loss resistance, digestive issues, skin concerns, inflammation, mood changes, stress, sleep challenges, autoimmune patterns, and feeling “off” despite being told their labs are normal. We also work with men and people of all ages.

  • Yes. We especially focus on supporting women in peri/menopause who want answers, clarity, and a more personalized path to healing and vitality. Dr. Graham has specialized certifications in weight loss, auto-immunity, and advanced women’s hormone health.

  • Healing is a partnership. We work together to better understand your body, uncover patterns, and create a personalized strategy that supports sustainable healing rather than quick fixes or symptom masking.

  • Not always, but functional lab testing can sometimes provide valuable insight into underlying imbalances. Recommendations are individualized and based on your symptoms, history, and goals. Perhaps a GI test, Dutch hormones, Organic Acids, etc.

  • No. Functional Medicine focuses on nutrition, lifestyle, foundational healing, education, targeted supplementation, stress support, and root-cause investigation. We may also collaborate with your primary care doctor or other providers when appropriate.

  • No. More supplements are not always better. We focus on understanding what your body truly needs and building strong foundations first. Supplements may be part of your individualized care plan but we like to start slow and build that strong foundation and do not overwhelm you with supplements.

  • Yes. Our Doctor is available virtually for California residents.

  • Conventional medicine is often excellent for acute care, emergencies, and diagnosis. Functional Medicine goes deeper into understanding why symptoms may be happening and how different systems in the body may be connected.

  • Functional Medicine services are generally cash-based. This allows for more personalized care, longer appointments, deeper investigation, and individualized support.

  • Many of our patients come to us after years of feeling unheard, dismissed, or stuck. Our goal is to help you feel seen, understood, and supported while creating a realistic and sustainable path forward

  • You deserve to be listened to. “Normal” doesn’t always mean optimal, and symptoms are often your body’s way of asking for attention and support. We look deeper to help uncover patterns that may be contributing to how you feel.

  • Yes. No two bodies — or healing journeys — are the same. Your recommendations and care plan are tailored specifically to your history, symptoms, goals, and lifestyle.

  • No. We believe in sustainable, realistic change. Healing does not have to come from perfection or extremes. Small, meaningful shifts often create the biggest long-term results.

  • Absolutely. Chiropractic care supports the nervous system and physical body, while Functional Medicine explores internal patterns and root causes. Together, they create a more holistic and comprehensive approach to healing.

  • Yes. Many people choose chiropractic care proactively to support mobility, nervous system health, stress resilience, posture, performance, and overall well-being. Similar to a tooth cavity, we don’t feel the cavity until it is really advanced.
